Bangladesh is the first country in South Asia with direct satellite-to-phone service. A 4G phone and a Banglalink SIM are all you need.

Banglalink has launched a satellite-to-mobile service in Bangladesh in partnership with Starlink, making Bangladesh the first country in South Asia to get it. Customers can now stay in touch even outside conventional mobile coverage, as long as they can see the open sky.

When it helps

Beyond remote areas, the service keeps people connected during emergencies, natural disasters, or long power cuts that knock out the regular network. Some essential apps and location services also work while out of coverage.

How to get it and what it costs

  • Any Banglalink connection with a 4G-capable phone can use the service.
  • In the first month, buying any Banglalink internet or mixed bundle pack gives access to Starlink internet at no extra cost.
  • From the second month, it is included free with selected monthly internet and mixed bundle packs.
  • Customers can send five free SMS a month over the satellite network.

Banglalink’s aim

The operator says the launch is part of its commitment to building stronger network infrastructure and bringing uninterrupted connectivity to areas outside coverage. Its goal as a digital operator, it says, is to make sure distance is no barrier to communication and that technology brings real benefits to people’s daily lives.
