The Bangladesh ICT and Innovation Network (BIIN) has honoured 44 technology and innovation projects out of 355 entries. At the Bangladesh ICT & Innovation Awards 2026, nine projects were named champions, 10 were winners and 25 received merit awards.

Under the theme ‘Recognising innovation, inspiring transformation’, winners received crests, certificates and gift vouchers at the BRAC University auditorium in Dhaka.

How winners were chosen

Of the 355 projects submitted across three categories—organisations, students, and individuals or teams—118 went through to final judging. A 40-member panel of government, banking and corporate executives, academics, chamber representatives, startup experts and technology journalists scored them on a digital portal against four criteria: originality, public benefit, commercial potential and technical quality.

A Tk 700,000 printer for Tk 28,000

Sourav Tarafder, team lead of the champion project Sync V-1: Braille Embosser, said conventional braille printers cost around Tk 700,000, putting them out of reach for visually impaired students. His team built one for about Tk 28,000 and could produce it at scale with enough funding.

Speakers noted that around 700,000 students graduate every year and that young people need more chances to turn ideas into reality. BIIN chairman Syed Almas Kabir called for policies to protect innovation, more research funding, and incentives for the private sector to invest in research.
